For now, you can ignore Java in your setup. Odds are that you will not notice that it is not there.
You can also download and install a version of java from
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp
download the JRE, probably this is a link to: http://javashoplm.sun.com/ECom/docs/Welcome.jsp?StoreId=22&PartDetailId=jre-1.5.0_01-oth-JPR&SiteId=JSC&TransactionId=noreg
I did not follow beyond this link, but this will allow you to download a version of Java for free. Of course, now that I pointed you to a link, with my luck, OpenOffice.org will not work with the 1.5.0 JRE.... I would have to blush....
