I'm no equation expert, but the version of OOo is pretty old.
I tried : a size 20 b
and got a normally sized 'a' and a large 'b' (font size 20 -
approximately). I'm using 1.1.2 on winxp.
It may be something that has been fixed since the release your using -
recommend and upgrade and then another try. If problem persists reply
to the list.

In area Math, Problem with 'size'
Hello,
I can't get the 'size' working
I checked:
http://documentation.openoffice.org/faqs/formula/index.html
where I found this:
http://documentation.openoffice.org/faqs/formula/010.html
If I enter: a size 20 b
I get 'a' normally, and 'b' so tiny it appears as a dot
If I enter: a size *2 b (or *3, *4, whatever...)
then 'b' shows up, sames size as 'a'
If I enter: a size +20 b
'b' is just --slightly-- bigger than 'a'
Using brackets is consistent, and reproduces what described above.
I can still change the default font size through the menu, but this is annoying
to me.
Am I missing something ? Thank you for your help
You have done your research and asked a good question. I am using the
latest developer snapshot, 1.9m74, and created the following screenprint
for you: http://needleswebs.com/dev/mathdisplay.jpg As previous poster
recommended, you should upgrade.
