Odd. It works on my computer as I described and I confirmed that prior to making the post.

I already had the "Apply Border" selection unchecked and had the same behavior as Peter until doing as I wrote. Perhaps you already had these unchecked?

Also, I found that the only one affecting the Editing Display is:
[M] Replace while modifying existing text.

Did a test with different combos and it seems that it is the apply border option.

I am not sure why this is called a border.
