I've installed OO1.9.74 on a Debian Sarge box 2.6.8-2-386. My printer is a Brother HL-1230 which is NOT a postscript printer. I read the printer installation material on the OO website and as a result installed gs-esp and then tried to setup the printer as Generic but ...
when I run spadmin (even as root) the add printer checkbox is greyed out. I tried manually editing the printers.conf file in the share/psprint directory of the OO installation but no joy there. So ...
Any suggestions about how to convince OO to let me add a printer?
Once OO lets me add a printer (if ever), what command line do I give? My spool is /var/spool/lpd/HL_1230.
Any help appreciated.
