[users] Mac osX Nightmare!

I'm not quite a newbie and trying to install this program has left me 
feeling like I've never used a computer before! I went through all the 
installation steps, followed all instructions and tips I saw, and I 
can't get open office to run! When I click on the "start open office" 
it keeps asking me to locate obordorOX (I think that was how it was 
spelled?) and I have no clue what that is or where to find it.  I tried 
uninstalling and starting all over and that didn't seem to help. My 
machine is running  OS X 10.2.8 if that helps.

Help!
