Hi there. I'm new to the mac platform and I just couldn't afford the MS Office X right now. I stumbled upon several other options for it. I've seen Luxuriousity and OpenOffice and NeoOffice.
Tell me, how different is the OpenOffice and NeoOffice/J? Although I kinda think they're the same, NeoOffice/J does not need X11 to run. I just need to know. I have both software installed right now.
Oh and by the way, is there a way in NeoOffice/J that you can actually assign different icons to different file types so that I can easily arrange and and identify which one is a Text document from a spreadsheet or draw or something else. Please advise if there's a patch that does this.
Also, in NeoOffice/J, when I decide to close the last remaining window of a NeoOffice document, the entire programs shuts down. That means, when I decide to open another document, it will take a long time again to initialize and start. Do you have a fix for this little bug? Please advise.
I do prefer the NeoOffice/J versus the OpenOffice only because it does away with the X11.

Have you tried to Google "Neooffice compare to OpenOffice"? If you can't find that here are some other places to check.
1) Use OOo help. 2) Go to <<documentation.openoffice.org>>. Search the *docs*, *FAQs* and *How To's*. Many questions are already answered. 3) Scan the mailing list archives for related messages. You can search the users list here <<http://tinyurl.com/6edyk>>. 4) Use Google or other search engine. 5) If these fail, then ask on an appropriate list.
