Today I installed OO 1.1.4 on my FC2 box. I have been using
1.1.1 successfully. The install completed successfully with no
errors apparent. I accepted all the defaults, resulting in a
server (-net) installation in /opt/OpenOffice.org1.1.4, and a
workstation install in my home account.
However, the new version 1.1.4 does not look as nice as the
original 1.1.1 which came as part of my FC2 distribution. The
icons are cartoonish and of lesser quality, and the fonts on the
document pages are jagged and chisel like. This significantly
decreases readibility.
What happened to the crisp graphical icons and nice font
rendering of 1.1.1?
Is there something I missed in the new installation?

Chris
Biggest problem that I had was that the OOo version that came
pre-installed setup the fonts so that they looked nice. When I install a
new vesion, they never are configured..... I always set up font
substitution to use fonts that my system supports. For example, with
fedora core 3, I do not seem to have "Times New Roman" or "Thorndale",
so I setup font substitution to something like "Nimbus Roman No9 L",
which my system does support. Same thing for Arial and a few others.
