I have update my AltKeyHandler macro available from:

I have just looked into this and it will take more time than I have
available at the moment.

The only way I can see of having a generic routine that will work in all
components is by using the clipboard. I find the API for the clipboard
quite difficult to get my head around - it is on my to do list, but
haven't got to it yet.

The routines I have written do not work in Calc. Calc requires the Uno
dispatch call InsertSymbol. In Writer if you don't specify an argument
such as which font, it defaults to the current font, where as in Calc
(1.1.4 for Linux) it crashes the app. This too would take more time than
I currently have available.

My concern is that what I did was a quick and dirty hack, I am sure that
it is not robust, and I haven't tested it thoroughly. I also think that
it doesn't do all that it should. So, provided that comments to that
effect go with it - you can make it available on the web. If enough
interest is generated it may encourage me to write the thing properly.
