What this person is talking about is DDE conversions straight to Excel/Word which is pretty darn cool. This allows a server to contact a small daemon running on the user machine to remotely luanch Excel/Word/PowerPoint and in real time generate the content before their eyes. The client program does the SQL call or just receives a proprietary code snippets - regardless, it translates this into DDE statements. DDE statement automates most of the capabilities all without keyboard or mouse intervention.

The question is will OOo 2.0 support DDE or similar? Unfortunately I don't see it. But wouldn't it knock the socks off of the CEOs!

Just imagine the possibilty of your accounting system or CRM system being able to directly generate a personalized mail merge or customized sales spreadsheet or a unique slide show presentation on-the-fly with the freshest data possible - all without preparation.

instead the program automatically opens a blank excel sheet and starts filling the data as it gets it from sql queries AT THE SAME TIME.
