Dear Dan, You ask very clear questions. You also seem open to accepting my assertions as sincere. Thank you! I will also try to make them accurate and succinct.
Q. Which windows manager are you using? A. Gnome. Q. Have you used your file manager ... to locate the root installation of OOo1.l.4 A. I have used both the Nautilus 2.4.0 file manager and the default search GUI. Based on content volume, the root installation of OOo1.1.4 appears to be "/usr/lib/openoffice/". That's my best guess without another way to confirm the impression, except that it contains a "help" directory. The other two (unlikely) candidates in root are "/usr/lib/gnumeric/1.2.1-bonobo/plugins/openoffice/" and "/usr/share/doc/openoffice.org-1.1.0/." The many other "openoffice" directories in root are subordinates of"/usr/lib/openoffice/". The only instance of "1.1.4" added to "openoffice" is the directory "OpenOffice.org 1.1.4" in the user section. Q. Is it [the root installation of OOo1.l.4] a subdirectory of "opt"? A. No. Q. What are the subdirectories of /opt/OpenOffice.org/help ? A. The directory "/opt" contains nothing. Only one path contains an "open office" folder with a subordinate "help" folder." It is "/usr/lib/openoffice/help/." Its subdirectories are "en" (for english ?) and 18 others with short titles that appear to be language codes. It also contains one file, "maintransform.xsl." If you need expansions of any or all of these directories, speak but the word. ___________________________ If you do not understand these answers or need other information, please say so. Your questions are clear, to the point and cast no aspersions. Their respectful attitude is not only extremely welcome but also absolutely essential. Past correspondence in this in this thread and scolding regarding such are odious to me. Hence the deletions. This is the first posting in the thread that I will retain. These are my boundaries. Should you can accept them, your reply will be most welcome. Yours truly, Don Note: Anyone seeking to enter the thread should respond to this post or my postings below.
