Oops ... My fault ;(  foomatic-hpijs doesn't exist: it's simply "hpijs"
(perhaps I'd drunk too-much wine when I wrote that ;) ).

Anyway:
the foomatic packages which result as 'installed' at present in my box are:
$ dpkg -l |grep foomatic

ii  foomatic-db        20050118-1     linuxpr..ng.org printer sup. - database
ii  foomatic-db-engine 3.0.2-20050114 linuxpr..ng.org printer sup. - programs
ii  foomatic-db-hpijs  1.5-20050118-1 linuxpr..ng.org printer sup. - database
ii  foomatic-filters   3.0.2-20050114 linuxpr..ng.org printer sup. - filters

Then, of course, there is 'hpijs' and any other packages required by
those listed above (if, after installation, it still doesn't work, do a:
$ apt-cache show pkg_name
for each of the above listed packages and verify that you aren't missing
any required pkg.

You have simply to remove this pkg: if you have all those listed above
(and any missing dependency), then you restart cupsys and hopefully
you'll be done :-)

Regards,
        Ennio.
