Hi Rick,
OOo should open the excel version, and will definitely open the text. You'll have to name the file with the extension .csv for it to open in calc. Use 'file / open' and select csv as the file type. With any other extension, the file will load in writer.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the response.

I do have the ability to convert with Quattro, but OpenOffice Calc would
not open the Quattro output for dBase, Lotus 1,2,3, or Excel. If I try to save
as text (comma delimited) OpenOffice Calc pops a Writer window and
displays it like that. Very frustrating. -Rik

I assume that you no longer have quattro-pro in order to 'save as'
something else.

Only other suggestion is to try a converter of some sort. Quick search
yielded this result, but there may be free ones out there as well :

I am currently running Linux RedHat 8.0 with OpenOffice.org 1.0.1.
There are a wide
variety of document that can be opened, but unfortunately I have a bunch
of old files in
Quattro-Pro I need access to and that is one format that is not
supported in the version I
have. Is there another version or patch that I should be using? Do you
have some specific
recommendations for reading Q-Pro files?
