The PDF Export functions of OpenOffice do not (yet) support the more advanced
Acrobat functions ( as in Acrbat Version 3 and up) there are some other
applications that do so - ofcourse Acrbat and the GNU version does to an extent
also.
As far as .DOC files go - first make sure that you have OOo set to save as at
least Word 97 .DOC and also configured to save everything in the .doc as .doc
functions (Tools -> Options -> OpenOffice.org -> Offce (click all the boxes).
One thing about OOo is the Zoom function that makes things really look
different on the screen than in MS Office. Try different Zoom sizes when things
just don't look quite right first. Its not 100% buts its fairly good and when
you setup some formatting options its really amazing how great the files will
look.
