Good morning everybody,

using Openoffice on a Debian 2.6.8 System with KDE 3.3 I am not able to open
any files at all.

This is, what happens:

> cd /usr/lib/openoffice/program
> ./spdamin

no reaction, the console freezes, I have to send SIGHUP to end the process.

Furthermore, starting
> openoffice
loads, as expected, the Openoffice core without opening any specific
application so as Writer, Calc... As soon as I chose a file to open from the
"File" Menu, it freezes again, no reaction anymore.

This looks to me like being a font problem: the freetype2 is installed,
updated and furthermore for Compatibility reasons the Xfs and Xft are running
as well.
Once I got the message: "couldn't open fontconfigs chosen font with Xft",
which doesn't give any hints by googling is.

Is there any logfile in Openoffice I could consult in order to find out, which
font caused the problem? Or is that (although I couldn't find it anywhere) a
known bug? In that case I apologize for bothering you.
Thanks fo any help to resolve the problem!

Johannes
