hi gert
i'm not sure if this will help, but Calc uses Default style for the headers and footers. if you wish to use a different style (font) for these elements, you should create a new style (ie. Default1) for the contents of the spreadsheet and modify the Default style to suit your needs.
if you decide to do that, you should be careful: after you change the Default style, all other styles will change their fonts to the one from the Default style (because they are hierarchally subordinate to it). this means that, after you change the Default style, you should once again change font for the Default1 back to what you wish to use for the contents of your spreadsheet (arial, times, verdana...).
