I hope I am posting this question to the appropriate place, apologies if I'm not. I've been using OOo 114 since it was released, but I only yesterday started subscribing to the newsletters.

By way of background after 30+ years in IT&T I have now retired from professional endeavors and work as a volunteer in various capacities - hence my interest in low cost/high function software like OOo and other Open Systems/Source (os/s) products.

I would like to explore the new features of OOo 2.0 but I want to keep 1.1.4 running on the same machine (I've only got one) as I am not the only person who uses the machine. Having been recently bitten by another os/s product in similar context, I decided that rather than blundering ahead in my usual style I would ask first. Regarding the other os/s product, the problems I had were entirely of my own making, I should have asked first for something akin to what it is I'm asking here wrt OOo.

Are there any guidelines for installing and using two, or more, versions of OOo on the same machine such that they do not get in each other's way.

Oh and I run W98SE (it's only a small machine), but with plenty of disk space (well I think it's plenty)

TIA Phil Daniels
