Can report that connecting to a mysql database works fine in 
Beta 2.0. I'm using the j3 class. Works well. I'm also on 
the dba list and had a few hits yeaterday but it's much 
less verbose than this list. 

Give us a few more clues like what system, what connector, 
what version number, where the client and the server 
are. . .
