Hi John,
Did you follow my steps to see if they worked for you?
I suspect your problem is that while you've assigned the same paragraph style to Heading9 in the TOC, you haven't actually set the level correctly.
Sorry if this is overly spoonfeeding-ish :) but here's the steps again...
1. Click on Insert -> Indexes and Tables -> Indexes and Tables
2. Select Table of Contents from the Type drop down list
3. Select the number of levels of headings to use (I tend to only use 4)
4. Tick the Additional Styles checkbox
5. Click on the ... button next to said checkbox
6. Select the headings you want in the TOC (any you've already using
with Outline Numbering will go in automatically... and/or the
default Heading1 to HeadingX styles) and click on the >> button to
move them to the desired level.
7. Click on OK.Steps 4-7 are the ultra-important ones. If I were you, I'd leave the Appendix headings OUT of the outline numbering, set them back to their own heading style (eg. AppHeading), and follow the above steps.
NOTE: I have noticed that the TOC setup 'freezes' on occasion in OOo 2.0 beta and beyond. Delete the TOC (right-click, select Delete) and generate a new one.

# toc table editing: using edit index/table for the TOC
index/table tab: "up to level" = 9 ; using outline styles only ....outline styles button> preview shows Chapter 1 ... Appendix 1, level 9 shows before=Appendix evel1 shows before=Chapter
entries tab shows same for level 1 & 9
styles tab shows level1 ->Content1 ... level2 ->Content2, except level
9-> Content1
So, I am trying to use Heading9 style for the appendix entries, they have the same typography as Heading1, and fall at the same indent level in the TOC.
doesn't work <<< - no "Appendix" appears and appendix heading is
ignored altogther.
thanks
John
