Jeff, Are you aware that DicOOo will also install the dictionaries for a distributed installation? All you need is the right permissions and only need to invoke the macro once. There is a check box for this on one of the popups. I have successfully used this feature once I set my permissions correctly. The only caveat is that you might have to add these dictionaries to each user's $HOME/OpenOffice.org1.1.x/user/wordbook/DicOOo.lst or the equivalent for Windows. Please see http://lingucomponent.openoffice.org/dictpack.html for more details. > Christel ROBERT wrote: > > > This is how I installed my dicitionnaries: > > > > 1/ Go to http://lingucomponent.openoffice.org/dictpack.html and > > download "dicOOo.sxw" (the first one in the list): this is a text > > document into which a simple macro is installed to help you download > > the various dictionnaries. > > 2/ This new document will open itself in Writer; Just click on the > > button to launch the macro and then follow the prompts to install you > > selection of dicos!! > > That's it. > > > > Good luck / bonne chance. > > Christel (French living in Johannesburg) > > > > > > Jeff & Ellen Hoover wrote: > > > >> I am writing from Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo: > >> University of Lubumbashi > >> > >> I am attempting to use OpenOffice to teach computer use to a batch of > >> 22 excited university students who have just gotten access to their > >> first computers, knowing that everyone around uses illegal knockoff > >> copies of Microsoft Office since no one can afford to buy legal copies. > >> I have installed OpenOffice but have not yet succeeded in installing > >> the dictionaries.
