I have never had cause to produce a chart before, but have just done so now, and after a bit of trial and error have got it the way I wanted. (This, by the way, is in 2.0)

My problem now is printing it. I find that:
(a) I cannot get the chart printed on its own without the spread sheet in which it is inserted. I have tried the "Format page" dialogue and choosing "Print chart"(as per help file). As a work-around, I thought I would copy and paste it into another document, but I found that the "copy" option is greyed out when I select it. (Incidentally, during my trial and error phase, I couldn't delete the chart, but had to resort to discarding the changed file, then reopening it to start all over again - this though the chart was selected.)

(b) I cannot persuade the printer that I really do want it to print the chart Landscape (I have set the OOo printing options, but the printer ignores the setting)

One other thing: I was hoping that 2.0 would have the ablity to have the Help file always on top. I personally find it so frustrating that when trying to pick my way through a sequence of steps from the help file, every time I do the next thing, the help file disappears under the work in progress. It's especially frustrating when coming back from another peek at Help, the thing I've done before has been undone, and I have to return to a previous step, which, with my short memory span I've probably forgotten anyway! (I know OOo is far from being the only program that does this)

Brian B.

In the past I have put the chart on a separate sheet. Then format the page breaks to print individual charts. It was easy in 1.1.0 I learned this habit from the Quatro Pro days where all the charts would be on one page by default.

Test things in print preview.

Hope this helps.
