When replying with a +1 or such, especially on an off-topic post, please try to cut some of the e-mail down.

What does a "+1" response mean? From the context of other messages, a "+1" response seems to indicate
approval.

Is there a list of such "list-isms" that I should know?
If so please post a link to its location.

Yes, it means like ditto, or I agree, or something like that.

However, when an e-mail is 40 - 50 lines long in addition to the other parts of the thread in that mail that are 30 lines, then replying to just say "+1" takes 80 lines.

I am a firm advocate of the "+1", but I know some people, and I can see there point, feel that an 80+ line e-mail to say "+1" is bad netiquette.

The only other list-ism I really learned here was that bottom posts are preferred so that people can read in chronological order. Other than that the lists follows must netiquette guidelines. In your case, not to pick on you or anything, if I were to tell you other listsism, I would say that you sig could be a little shorter. Most netiquette sites would dictate that you signature should 4 lines long at most. But, then again, they would also say I should have told you that in private, so I have broken a rule there, but it followed in conversation.

HTH,
