The bug: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=40240
The spellchecker is broken for all non-US linux users. Even though dictionary installation is successful, users are unable to select the installed language pack. When an installed dictionary is selected, the user's choice is dropped, and the selected language pack remains at the default ... which seems to alternative between US Engligh, UK English and Danish, depending on the build of OOo. --- Another bug which compounds the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=3310 OpenOffice will only perform a spell-check on a document if the currently selected dictionary pack *exactly* matches the document's language setting. --- Clearly these 2 bugs combined result in spell-checking being *completely* broken on non-US Linux systems. In my books, this is a show-stopper.
