First of all : do you have an appropriate keyboard to write Spanish 
easily ? Then I think the main thing to do is to make one of the 
varieties of "Spanish" the default language (in "Options / Linguistic 
Parameters / Language" - maybe the words are not the same : I use the 
French version). Anyway, even if Spanish is the default language, you 
will have no problem with English.

My wife is running OOo 1.1.4 on WinXP.  She says:
 ``I need to use accent marks for my Spanish words.
   I can't figure it out.''
I've check the Insert -> Special Character...  You can insert, say an
`o' with a tilde over it.  But this isn't very flexible or fast.  I
didn't see an `n' with tilde, for example.
Is there a way to insert accents without using the menus?  It there a
way to insert accents over arbitrary characters?
