This is a pretty cheesy solution, but you could write a macro function that calls the original function and accepts a string as the last parameter:
Pauls_HamFetchMail(server, port, user, pass, "# pull xxx mail acct")
then Pauls_HamFetchMail passes the first four parameters to the original function.

I don't think that would help me. I'm trying to leave reminders on how to populate functions, and need to see it there before me while or just before I type. The note's aren't bad, but I think in cell comments would be better.

Yes, that's a bit much, considering there are a few functions I'd like to keep track of. I think seeing parameter definitions more prominent in the function editor would be a good step also, but having them at the tail end of the cell would be idea for both writer and reader, I believe. As it stands, I can write out the function nearby in the spreadsheets, as they aren't for presentation purposes. But that won't always be the case.
