I don't think it is a bug. It seems that "Math" exists only to put things into other OOo documents. So the insert route is the normal functionality

Thanks. That is helpful. I think it is a bug though, that you cannot copy the formula in the upper window into the clipboard and then paste it into writer and calc.

I've got the same setup as you so what I did to get the formula in Writer was to select insert/object/formula in writer and entered the formula you have below in the space provided.

Using Win XP Pro and OOo 1.9.95

OK. I type in the OOo Math window "f(x) - sum from(0) to(5) (x^2 + x + 5) and then press enter. I now have a beautiful equasion drafted and displayed in OOo math.

So far I have learned that I cannot copy it and past it into Writer or Calc, I select all and copy, but it seems to reject the use of the clipboard, as the previously stored text is still in the clipboard and not replaced by the Math copy.

So ... since you cannot use the equasion generated, of what good is the Math module???

Does anyone understand what I am saying?
