This list is a good start and there are many users here will help you
through what ever it is your trying to do on OpenOffice. I'm not too
sure if you downloaded OpenOffice from the official OpenOffice web
site (www.openoffice.org), but I'll assume that it operates the same.

The 'shortcuts' should appear in your 'start > programs' menu (again
I'm assuming that your using a version of windows).

Once you find the shortcuts you can open what ever module you like
(writer, calc, impress, draw) and go from there. There is a myriad of
information on the www.openoffice.org website. Have a search through
there for starters. In addition - below is a link to the FAQ's just
to get you started :

The files to download can be found here :
http://download.openoffice.org/1.1.4/security_patch.html

Select 'download' and choose the file named : sot645mi.dll (since your
on windows). There are further instructions on how to install the
patch on the page above... have a read then post any further questions
back to the list.

Admittedly it can be a little daunting. There is a link to some
software that is commonly used for calculating Md5 calculations if you
want to follow it. However if you have successfully installed 1.1.4
onto your computer you can probably skip the Md5 check. If however you
have problems later this could be a solution that people will propose
in order to find whether this is the cause of the issues.

Hope this helps...
