File associations are set by the OS. When OOo or any other program is
being installed, a choice is given as to what files should be
association with this program. That information is stored within the
OS. Only those programs which have an additional choice of checking the
status of particular file associations will ask you if you want to
reset your file association for their type of files. OE is good at
doing this in windows.
Long story in short form: OOo asks at installation time and that is
it. The only time you might run into a problem again is if you have to
re-install OOo or install an upgrade version.
