There are typically two methods of dealing with graphics in a document. You can embed them or link them. Embedding increases the file size but the graphics are stored within the document. Linking graphics's means smaller file sizes and that the person viewing the document must be able to 'see' the path to the linked graphics. They are not included in the document.
Both options are available when working with frames. You can embed or link graphics within frames.
