Using 1.1.4 you can do this:

Create a slide with bullet points,
then click on sideshow / effects:
then choose a TEXT effect (say  cross fade from left)
then the third icon in the row of four should clear itself
(the one with the musical note and the clock)
click on this to see the 'extras' panel.
the top option allows you to fade to a colour
- although it seems to require an extra mouse click!
