I would like to direct your attention to
http://documentation.openoffice.org/manuals/OOo1.x.x/user_guide.sxw

THis document contains 439 pages, 70 tables, 342 graphics, 45 OLE
objects and was written with OOo.

So to continue.

Upgrade to 1.1.4 or 1.1.5. Both load faster than 1.1.3. Also enable the
quickstarter if your system supports this.

I suspect that the problem is that MSO Word does not anchor graphics
very well. I observed this when using StarOffice4.x and 5.x. The key is
to anchor graphics in OOo rather than depend on Word.

I also suspect that you forgot to set wrapping to suit the positioning
of the graphic.

I do not understand this statement. Perhaps you could explain more fully
as I have had no problems sizing.

Are you talking about captioning? If yes, then you should know that the
captioning is done with frames and you could insert both graphics into
the same frame.

Another do not understand situation. For one why use JPEG which is a
lossy format rather than one of the lossless formats such as PNG?
Sedcondly, I do not understand the procedure you are using. Please
explain.

Please explain.

You must remember that OOo is an Office Suite that happens to handle
files for MSO. The conversion is very good, in my opinion, at about 95%
on both import and export. Not bad considering that these functions were
built without the benefit of a description from MS. I would like to
suggest that exporting to PDF would be a better choice if you are
distributing the document.

I have already suggested that you upgrade to take advantage of the many
fixes et cetera that were part of the 1.1.4 release. 2.0 beta candidates
appear to offer even better MSO compatibility and load speed. Please
take the time to check it out.
