Not really. "Save version on close" only saves a version when the file is modified at the time of closing, and this is as designed. Why creating a version if nothing was changed? The version would just contain what you have saved anyway. And if you open a file several times withou modifying it you get a lot of identical versions. OTOH it is a little bit strange that you shouldn't save a file before closing it just to get a version stored also. So the whole feature needs some rethinking, see http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=30015 We want to find out how the feature can be made more intuitive without the risk of creating a lot of useless versions.
