I'm writing a newsletter, and want to prevent some formatting that
seems to be happening automatically.
1) When I hit the return key to begin a new paragraph, I get a double space
that
I don't want. This is the biggest frustration.
What is the style of your paragraphs?
Place your cursor in one of those paragraphs, press F11, check that the
left-most icon on the top bar is selected, and right click on the
highlighted paragraph style. Then select “Modify...” from the drop down
menu that pops up.
In the dialog box that appears, select the “Idents & Spacing” tab. Make
sure that the value in the box opposite “First Line” is 0.
2) Also, a minor thing: I'm putting a table into a frame, and the frame
insists
on leaving a large amount of white space above and below the table, taking
up more room.
Have you right-clicked on the frame?
If so, you should get a drop down menu. One of the options is “Frame”.
Select it. In the “Wrap” tab you can set fame spacing around the object
contained in the frame.
