Francois, In addition to OpenOffice, try to get some graphic design packages. I can tell you from experience (2 years now), that the open source bandwagon is the way to go. The software is better in operation, user interface, and it rarely crashes! The really great thing about the OpenOffice suite is that it exports PDF directly from the program in seconds! And they look great.
