Thuderbird and Lightning can do almost all of this... I use Lightning all the time in my work environment. I can subscribe to individual calendars, team calendar etc. My manager can insert meetings into my calendar... I see proposed meetings and can one click accept or decline them etc etc. It all works quite nicely.
