Hi Lester,

Yes, I am the same guy who directed you to this list. Your revised post
gives a clearer idea of what you are trying to achieve. My answers are
given in-line with your original message.

1. Have set an Impress slide show. Need to add to webpage.
PowerPoint, when linked, will start PPS veiwer. When Impress slide
show linked same way, merely opens up Impress and files of slide
show.

http://www.eastlincnsync.org/slide%20shows/why%20women%20should%20vote.odp

While file saved as an .odp, it opens in Zip???? ... running XP,
using MSFP as Web editor.

That's because ODF (OpenDocument ISO/IEC 26300:2006 standard file
format) is a zip file, containing the component parts used by ODF
enabled applications.

2. How can this be saved as a .pps?

Open the file in Impress, then use the "File -> Save As..." menu option.
In the "Save As" dialog/window, click the down arrowhead of the
drop-down list to the right of "File type:" and select "MS Powerpoint
... (.ppt)". Make sure the "Automatic file name extension" box is
ticked/checked and click save.

The saved file name will have a ".ppt" suffix (eg. foofile.ppt). Simply
rename the file, changing the ".ppt" to ".pps". The "s" in the file name
suffix tells Powerpoint, or the free viewer, to automatically start the
slide show.

3. How do you add navigation buttons to Impress slide show slides?

Sorry, I am not sufficiently conversant with Impress to be able to say
for sure how this can be done for a file saved in Powerpoint format.
Maybe someone else on this list could offer you some pointers to a
solution for this.

tks, Lester Poole

Hope this helps.

Dave
