Bruce and Melenie the problem is that with the most recent MAC OSX
update Apple has managed to kill version 4.2 which requires X11 to
run. you can find the a Bata Version of OOo 3.0 that runs native on
OSX here....
http://ooopackages.good-day.net/pub/OpenOffice.org/MacOSX/3.0.0rc2/
The English version for Intel Processors is OOo 3.0.0rc2
MacOSXIntell Install.dmg
If you have a PPC processor you want OOo 3.0.0rc2
MacOSXPowerPC Install.dmg
If you are looking for a diffrent Language you need to find the one
with your language designator such as OOo 3.0.0rc2 OSXIntel Install
af.dmg

I would be grateful for your help. I have made about 10 attempts to
download openoffice on my Mac OS X which is using Leopard. Although
it will down load and appear in both Applications and Desktop, it
will not open for use. All I get is an xtemp page with the code
'bash-3.2$'. Originally I downloaded using Safari but, when I became
aware that that may cause problems, I used Firefox. Still no luck!
It is very likely my fault but I lack the expertise to sort the
problem. I look forward to your reply.
Many thanks,
