Don't forget the stylist (F11) can load styles into an existing
document from a variety of places - you don't have to start by
opening a suitable template to create your document. I confess I've
not tried it, but the drop-down box in the top right of the stylist
offers a "load styles" option, which in turn gives a variety of
places to load from, including as well as normal odf files (& I'm
surprised to see it!) an MS Word template.
I notice that in the stylist (F11) is vastly different in Writer than in
Calc. In the Calc stylist the
top right drop-down box is greyed out, so that "load styles" is not
available. This is a problem
for me.
Hmmm. Mea culpa - never noticed that. It seems that in Writer, the
'new style from selection' icon (the dog-eared page with a +) is a
drop-down list (one item being 'load styles...'), while in the others
it only has the one function (Calc) or is greyed out (Draw, Impress).
Any good reason why this should be so? Otherwise it's yet another of
those pointless, irritating differences between modules........
