You might have added a box (or an arrow or something from the draw toolbar) and changed the background transparency.
Do the following if you want to change the transparency setting. a) go to "view/toolbars" menu b) select the "draw" toolbar c) click on the little blue square d) click somewhere in the spreadsheet and keep pressing until you drag the cursor a little bit right and little bit down e) release the mouse button f) right click on the new created box g) select "Area..." h) click on the "transparency" tab (the third one from the left, at the top of the new opened window i) select the "transparency" radio button (it should have a 50% value by default) j) click on the "accept" button. If you move the box over some other text or something you will see you can see through. Maybe you copied/pasted something with this setting?
