It's quite some ago now, but I accidently stumbled over this and wanted
to add that StarOffice (for those who don't know: Suns commercial
"brother" of OO.o) has an import filter for WinWord2.x.

The Sun WebSite offers a download for a 30 days trial version, that
should suffice for a test of the filter that can tell you wether it is
worth investing some money in StarOffice.
