Then I think we might be having a communication problem.
Can you do this?
* In the stylist (OOo 1.1.4), edit a numbering style.
* Use the toolbar button to create bulleted list (just click on the
button- *do not* edit the list options in the list option dialog box.
Does the list you just created use the style you edited? It didn't for me.
