With 2.4.1 under Windows XP or VistaHP, the DataVies formatting is
retained. The only oddity I noticed there was that copying the data
into Writer with a Paste Special, RTF, the data acquired a
strikethrough; the formatting in Base did not have the option to set
this property explicitly off.

Do you know if there is an open issue for the Paste RTF problem?
Unfortunately it appears that the formatting may also be lost when
moving from 2.x > 3.0.x or back to 2.4.x (of course one can not move an
ODB from 3.x to anything less then 2.4.1 at all) the other way. I'm
assuming (note that word here) that this has something to do with the
change in file format for ODB files from 2.x to 3.x.
