I have been using OO2.4 for several months and like it very much. Now I have installed 3.0, and I am thrilled. It is such a gigantic leap forward, in appearance and in function. I have one problem. This version doesn't want to save files in ,odt format. If I try that, it goes into an endless loop. So I am saving in other formats are that OK for the moment but not for the long run.

Is there a fix for this or do I have to reinstall?

Hello Miriam,

The 3.0 release had some known issues when installing onto a system that already had a 2.4 installation. Specifically when you allowed the installation routine to move your user information forward from the old install to the new, also if you had certain extensions installed under 2.4.

OK - well, I can't guarantee you that this is the cause of your problems, but I would not be at all surprised.

Most people have been able to sole these problems by deleting the OpenOffice.org user directory ( Someone needs to help out here because I don't recall where that is by default on the Mac ). When you do this the directory and default setting files are recreated when you next start the application.

Also - you might want to consider getting a copy of 3.0.1 which released yesterday. This is a bug fix release for 3.0.0.
