It is very difficult to tell what you wrote and what you are responding to when you don't have quote attributes for the message you are responding to

There are 2500 people on this list. It would hardly be surprising if several people responded to a message on a particular subject - or even to earlier replies to it. These could all be independent replies; indeed, if they arrive at similar times, they are likely to be so. You will see their contents only if you read them all.

Excellent reasons for setting up a proper website-based forum

Actually, it is a good reason to download all the messages and view them in threaded mode. Or, you could view this list as a newgroup through Gmane.

There are already two website help forums for OO.o for those people who prefer forums to mailing lists or newsgroups.

You have assumed that earlier responses are less valuable than those from people who were less prompt in replying. I see no reason to believe that this would be the case. Indeed, the opposite might be true.

Is this your response?
Not correct. I am hoping that the earlier timed responses will be reflected
on the latest response.

Not necessarily. There are often several separate responses to the original question that do not have any of the other responses. If you download them all or view in a newgroup you can see all of them. Also in a multiple post intechange a post should only contain the relevant material being replied to. The rest should be clipped.
