that is not the politically correct word.
It is called "Downsizing" or "reducing the labor or employee pool".
Then there is the "outsourcing to reduce overhead".
Our are is hiring for a new "candy" plant, built with mostly government.
They fired all of their employees from their old plant that is in a
different state. The came to our area for the reduced tax credits. They
are hiring all new employees, at a lower wage. Most likely when the tax
reduced taxes are over with and the wages increase, they will find a
new state and county to help pay for a new plant and tax breaks. Then
fire all their non-management workers.
At least Sun is not doing that, hopefully. Or are they going to
out-source the jobs later?
