Good idea... Never thought of that. But there would be still some benefits if OOo Calc accepted English and localized formula names transparently. I'm not sure if it's a generalized fact, but when using spreadsheet programs, the users of localized versions end up learning formulas in English for various reasons. I think it's a good idea to let them use the formulas in the language they lerned them instead of forcing them to find out how they got translated.
And if someone writes a wanderfull macro that contains formulas in English, it's difficult for the regular user to translate it to use the localized names of those formulas. It wouldn't be practical for the user to swithch the application to english every time he/she needs to run the macro. And the user maybe simply doesn't know english and it whould be hard to manage to either a) find his/her way thru the English UI, or b) understand enough how the macro works in order to translate it. At the end, if the program is written in English, and we are using PO files for translation, it means the English formulas are there.. always. It shouldn't be difficult to add a little method that compares the formula wirtten by the user against the English strings in case it isn't found in the translated ones. I don't know... maybe I just don't know enough. Or... is not worth enough?
