That works far more better in Calc > than in Writer ... So another option: > > - create the table/formula etc. in Calc; Okay, here we go. I've uploaded a similar, but a bit more advanced table for calc here: ftp://urpla.net/taxtable.ods. It unfortunately behaves like writer in some respects. While this is consistent at least, it's not really satisfying at the same time :-(.. Adding rows is still best done with cut & paste, or a lot of boring adjustments had to be done: - the position nr. formula has to be copied (which truly is a bit easier in calc) - the item * item price formula has to be copied (same..) - the Sum field still isn't adjusted accordingly The only advantage is, that the number format and alignment is more stable now. > - select and copy; > - paste it in a Writer-doc; > - now it becomes an object > (default behaviour, see Past Special for other options) > - click outside and you can type in Writer > - click on the object once and you can change size/position > - bouble-click on the object and there is Calc: > insert a row and the format stays, formula is updated ... While this is really fascinating, the related OLE acronym itself typically freezes the blood in my veins in seconds ;-) [testing now..] That seems to work fine. The only disadvantage from embedding I see at the moment, that it's hard to access some fields in the table from inside the text document. Oh, well.. > - You can also create an autotext of that particular object, so that > it can easily be used in more documents. More fascinating stuff, if only OOo would get the (advanced) basics for office usage right.. Thanks again Cor, your valuable input is highly appreciated.
