Looking forward hearing from you . Paul Fontaine
Assuming you're downloading from www.openoffice.org, you don't have to
register. Just go straight to downloading. The registering on the web
site is for something else.
This a a user run list. Fellow users, like me, read the email on the
lists and reply to the ones that they have some suggestions or outright
answers.
We all try to help the people who need help.
We do not have all the answers to every question. Many times there is
a need for more information to help us users to figure out the cause
of the problem.
I have used OpenOffice.org since before the 1.x days, before it was
a real challenge to MS Writer/Excel/etc.. After all that time, I
do not have even half of the answers. I still have questions that
these fellow users try their best to answer. WE ARE ALL volunteers
here and some time on a daily basis, some not.
Thanks for donating to OpenOffice.org (if you paid a their site)
Many people in this economy can afford to donate.
You need not register a username/password at this site to download
or use the software. I never did. I did register when I first
installed OOo, but never created a user/password at the web site.
One part of the registration, as I understand it, is you will get
the monthly newsletter that has some good information about what
is going on in the "world" of OpenOffice.org and ODF's file format.
The biggest thing about this software is it is free and supported
by the users, for the users. Every time there is a new update
or version (3.1 is due out in 60+ days) it is always free from
OpenOffice.org's web site. MS Office charges for their update
versions. I have MS Office 2003/pro and almost never use it now.
OOo 3.0.x is what I use. What I prefer to use.
