I'm using OOo Writer v3.01 (OOO300m15 build 9379) on WinXP SP2. The
hardware is a no-name PC with an AMD Duron 950mhz processor and 1gb ram.
Usually, when I'm using OOo Writer, I'm writing a letter. Sometimes I
start from a template I've created and sometimes I start from an older
letter.
Some time back, I made some changes to the style used in the letter
template. Now, every time I open a pre-existing letter, it tells me
that the styles have changed since I created that document and asks me
if I want to change the document. ("The styles in this document do not
match your current styles. Should your current styles be applied to
this document?") Then, even when I close that document without making
any changes to it, OOo thinks I HAVE made changes and wants to know
whether to save or discard them.
Is there any setting I can change to make OOo stop asking me about
changing the styles?
I don't think it makes any sense for the program to assume that I'd want
to change the styles of an already-existing document in the first
place. I've never been anywhere where a normal user would EVER want to
mess with styles. (They'd want the office 'guru' to fix it for them.)
And those who did need to work with styles did so rarely enough that it
makes no sense for the program to ASK them every time they opened the
document.
Also, what (and why) would OOo be doing to change the document when all
I've done is look at it (and say "NO" to the style changes)?
Thanks for your help.
