Setting it for Text seems to fix the problem. I already tried that, but after setting it to bold the formula prints darker than the rest of the text in the document. So my choices are fainter than the rest of the document or darker than the rest of the document. I think it's a bug. I only started using formulas in 2.4.1, so I don't know if it was a problem before then.
