See Michael Adams' responses; they're good ones.  I'd simply like to add 
that if you have to continue to download it via dialup, definitely use a 
download manager as he mentioned, and further, start the download at the 
end of your day, so the computer can go ahead and do the download 
uninterrupted; overnight perhaps.
   I wouldn't recommend BitTorrent and the like simply because my guess 
at your level of expertise says it may make things more confusing to you 
than they have to be.  But then again if you like an adventure, it's 
probably the fastest way to download it, but not the most reliable due 
to your current neophyte status (that's not "bad", it's just a 
statement).
